  • Dr. Alvaro Blanco Garcia

Garcia is a post-doctoral fellow in the Langford lab. Alvaro is from xxx and completed his training xxx. Dr. Garcia investigates the role of PINCH protein in gliomas and the process of malignant transformation of normal astrocytes into cancer cells in the brain. Overexpression of PINCH contributes to cancer cell resistance to therapy. His studies focus on identifying the trigger(s) for PINCH expression in cancer and how to block expression to improve the xxx of chemotherapeutic intervention.

  • Caitlin Tice

Tice is a fourth year PhD candidate in the Langford Laboratory. Her research focuses on how disruptions in signaling in the water channel called Aquaporin-4 in the brain contribute to multiple neurodegenerative diseases including HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder, Alzheimer’s disease and recovery from traumatic brain injury. Caitlin also investigates how mutations in specific genes influence outcome in the neurodegenerative process.

  • Fergan Imbert

Imbert is a third year PhD student in the Langford Laboratory and is a Neuroscience Scholars Program (NSP) Associate through the Society for Neuroscience (SfN). He graduated from xxx and trained for x years at Johns Hopkins studying a post-translational modification called SUMOylation. Fergan’s research investigates the potential role of SUMOylation in viral latency in the brains of people with HIV.
